Foundation for Valentine’s Day

I will use any excuse to buy new makeup and you can’t go wrong with a new foundation for Valentine’s Day! Whether you’re going out on a date or meeting up with some friends, treat yourself!

Foundation for Valentine’s Day

Last week I spent some time at Take Care Shop in Georgetown trying out three new-to-me foundations. I went live on Instagram with Becky, the owner of Take Care Shop, so she could show us a few foundations for Valentine’s Day and also show us the finishes of each one.

Check them out in the video!

Vapour Organic Beauty Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation

I’m familiar with Vapour Organic Beauty’s makeup line but I had not tried their Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation before. We used shade #115 on me and it was a great color match. In the summer, I bet I would need another shade, but #115 is great for winter.

This was the lightest of the three foundations in terms of texture and it went on really smoothly. It’s great for all skin types and I think it would be perfect for someone who wants a little bit of coverage but not too much.

Gressa Minimalist Corrective Serum Foundation

Becky loves Gressa’s Minimalist Corrective Serum Foundation and recommends it to a lot of her customers. I find with Gressa you need to prep your skin really well before you apply it and as long as you do that, it sits really nicely on your skin.

I mention this in the video but I love how they put “serum” in the name of the product. It accurately describes the texture and the coverage. You apply it as a liquid serum and it turns into a powder when it’s rubbed into the skin. But it’s not at all powdery like the stuff your grandmother used to wear.

We used shade 3.5 on me and it was a great match. It feels light on the skin but also gives great coverage and it’s very buildable.

Alima Pure Liquid Silk Foundation

The Alima Pure Liquid Silk Foundation is the product I’m least familiar with but this was my favorite of the three based solely on the texture! We used the shade Dream and I love how it feels like you’re applying moisturizer when you put it on. It’s thicker than the other two but it’s not a heavy coverage at all.

Alima Pure describes it as a “liquid foundation meets a BB cream” but I find it leans more heavily towards a BB cream. BB Cream stands for “Beauty Balm” and they’re known for both coverage like a foundation and a moisturizer in one product. As I mentioned, I love the texture and coverage of this one from Alima Pure.

Georgetown Date Spots

After you swing by Take Care Shop to pick up some new makeup, visit one of my favorite date spots in Georgetown with either your significant other or your girlfriends! I’ve outlined a few of my favorites below.

I always crave a casual Valentine’s Day so I would love to grab coffee at Blue Bottle or Grace Street Coffee Roasters

I also love sweets so if you’d rather stick with dessert, I’d go to Thomas Sweet or Baked and Wired.

Or, if you’d rather do something a little fancier, I’d visit Via Umbria or Il Canale.

No matter what you’re doing on Valentine’s Day, I hope it’s a great one! XO.

  1. Kat, do you have a recommendation for a under $30 non-toxic foundation? Asking for le me. (-:

    1. I need to do a budget round-up post too. With that said, here are a few people like, but admittedly, I have not tried them all. W3LL PEOPLE Bio Tint // W3LL PEOPLE Stick Foundation // ZuZu Luxe // And this one is a bit more than $30 but I really love it: Juice Beauty CC Cream
