Non-Toxic Deodorants

I’ve had several readers ask me about which non-toxic deodorant I like and use. I touched on it a bit here in an earlier post, and I showed you a picture of my favorite here. Now I’d love to expand a bit on the topic.

There is a lot of research out there about why switching to a non-toxic deodorant is important so I won’t repeat it all in this post. I’ll include some links at the bottom of this post you can reference.

Let’s start with what you all want to know. I hate to break it to you, our bodies were designed to sweat. So you won’t find a non-toxic deodorant that blocks your pores like most conventional deodorants. Sorry, I don’t have better news about that!

I do, however, have an all-time favorite non-toxic deodorant and I’ll list a few others I’d recommend. I’ll also list a couple I’ve tried that didn’t work for me.

Crunchy Kat Meow Meow Tweet Deodorant

Meow Meow Tweet

Meow Meow Tweet’s Deodorant Stick is hands down my favorite non-toxic deodorant. I first tried Meow Meow Tweet when they sold their deodorant in glass jars exclusively. They still sell that product but released a new formulation in a stick in May of this year. I’d recommend both, but the stick is easier to apply for obvious reasons, which is why it’s my favorite.

The stick comes in two scents: Lavender Bergamot and Lemon Eucalyptus. The lavender is prevalent in the Lavender Bergamot and the Lemon Eucalyptus is very citrusy. I prefer the Lavender Bergamot because I love the scent of lavender. And, I still smell just as fresh at the end of the day as I did at the beginning when using this stick.

All of Meow Meow Tweet’s products are vegan and the packaging of the deodorant stick is bio-degradable, in case you’re into that. The ingredients of the stick are super clean, another reason to love it.

While using another brand, I discovered that I’m sensitive to baking soda. A lot of non-toxic deodorants contain baking soda, but the Meow Meow Tweet stick formulation contains just a bit and it doesn’t bother me. The deodorant cream doesn’t contain any baking soda. Something to keep in mind if you’re sensitive to baking soda too.

Meow Meow Tweet is a small company based out of the Catskills in New York and they have graciously provided me with a couple of goodies to give away to Crunchy Kat readers so check back tomorrow for my first giveaway!

Other deodorants I’d recommend

  • Soapwalla Deodorant Cream — I started using the Meow Meow Tweet Deodorant Cream after this one because I reacted to the baking soda. It works really well and as long as you don’t mind applying it with your fingers, I’d try it!
  • The People’s Pharmacy Roll-on Deodorant — It comes in a convenient form and works well. Allow it to dry before getting dressed.

Deodorants I would not recommend

  • Primal Pit Paste stick — It was hard to rub in and there is a lot of baking soda.
  • Tom’s of Maine stick — Just didn’t work

  1. I agree with you on Toms of Maine…a real disaster 😐 Expected more because I like their toothpaste (second only to Jason’s!).
